Online chat partners are more likely to fall for each other in summer.

Half of the 2,000 people surveyed for a Sky Travel poll believed that falling in love happens much easier in the summer. They said the mix of sun, sea and sand is a potent combination for romance.

The poll also revealed that in order to beat the heat, people make the biggest fashion flops.

Girls who were surveyed cited bandanas and string vests as the biggest fashion flops for men.

Speedos, chunky jewellery and bodies shiny with tanning oil also made the ladies cringe and pray for rain on a hot day.

For guys, girls with hairy armpits topped the list as passion killers in summer (and all the other seasons!). Fake designer sunglasses, clothes and bags followed a close second.

Matthew, a 19-year-old lifeguard from Cornwall said his biggest summer turn-off: "I can't stand girls who obsess about how they look in their bikinis.

"I wish they would realise we think they look fantastic no matter what."

So when you meet your online chat mate this summer, keep things sizzling by being your cool and fantastic self.
