American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson has admitted that she is not a fan of dating, it has been reported.

In her hit Because of You, Kelly sings about how she has been left "afraid" following a heartbreak and it seems that the sentiment rings true in her life.

Kelly said that she finds a date "like an audition", the Daily Mail reports.

"I'm a walking contradiction. I see cute couples and think I would love to be with someone, but if someone were here I'd think I want to be single. I'm not ready for a relationship," she's quoted as saying.

"In fact, I hate dating."

Kelly also said that she does not want a serious relationship until she is at least 35 or 40.
