Girls seek Surrey accents - and a ?35k salary
If you happen to come across a guy with a Surrey accent, the chances are he'll have a hoard of eager girls in tow.
A national survey has revealed that, contrary to the beliefs of die-hard romantics, money still is an important factor when picking a dating partner, and 77 per cent of people think that Surrey boys' accents are a good indication of wealth.
And it seems that average earnings are likely to be of little interest to girls, many of whom admit that they are seeking a man who earns ?35,000 or more.
In terms of appearance, fake sun-tans are out and the casual look is definitely in, with nearly half of respondents to the poll - conducted for Five's new television quiz show Payday - claiming that guys who earned over ?100,000 were most likely to opt for jeans, t-shirts and trainers.
Alex Menzies, deputy commissioning editor with Five, told the Scotsman: "They say you can't judge a book by its cover and you certainly can't judge a person by the clothes they wear or the way they speak.
"But wealth is now the biggest motivator for love, though it's tricky to know who's got a big piggy bank or an empty wallet," he added.
You shouldn't just judge a person by their appearance. Online dating makes it easy to get to know people without worrying about looks so why not complete this form to search for your perfect guy or girl!
