Is clever the new pretty for dating?
The traditional 'dinner and a movie' date is undergoing quite an upheaval in America as couples are choosing to snub stereotypical venues in favour of visiting lectures and museums, according to reports.
However, although it is proving popular in the US, "intellidating" as it is called, originated on British shores in 2002, according to the Washington Post.
Paul Holdengr?ber, who launched a live lecture series that is now a staple of New York's "intellidating" scene, told the paper: "Let's face it, there really is nothing more sensual than caressing someone's mind."
The fad certainly seems to be picking up numerous fans who think that interacting intellectually with their date is far more exciting than visiting a more conventional venue.
One "intellidater", 28-year-old Andy Criss, said of his lecture date: "We were interacting, sharing thoughts, and that was far more satisfying than if we'd gone out to see the movie of the week."
