US teens provide parents with dating advice
American youngsters have been helping to bridge the parent-offspring divide by giving their parents advice on teen dating.
Girl Scouts of MinnIaKota organised a one-on-one session to discuss first dates, appropriate outfits, sex and sexually transmitted diseases with their parents.
The girls felt that many of their parents tended to avoid these issues and wanted them to realise the importance of discussing relationships before high school.
Experts from Roosevelt high school were on hand to provide advice and information, and a health educator from a local clinic stopped by to inform parents about the need to promote good sexual health.
Senior Julie Wagner told Keloland TV: "It can be really hard for parents to talk to their kids about it and it could be uncomfortable.
"But I think it's really important that they do bring those things up."
