Beckham and Kylie top role models for teens
Teenagers are shunning the likes of Babyshambles frontman Pete Doherty and opting to model themselves on more clean-living public figures, such as pop star Kylie Minogue.
Doherty was voted the worst role model by teenagers across the UK in a study carried out by the Scout Association, with his drug-fuelled antics apparently gaining him little respect.
Instead, teens seem more attracted to less controversial figures including footballer David Beckham, who it now emerges is one of the most admired people in the UK.
That should come as little surprise, as a separate survey by Sheila's Comforts recently revealed that Beckham is one of the men that girls most frequently dream about dating.
"This report dispels the myth that all teenagers are lazy layabouts who see Asbos as badges of honour and have no respect for adults," commented Paul Crolla of the Scout Network.
"It's clear boredom plays a huge part in life for young people and it is vital that we have the opportunity to participate in activities outside of school," he added.
The majority of respondents also indicated that their parents were the most important role models in their lives, suggesting that today's youngsters have more respect for their elders than previously thought.
Dating a celebrity is beyond most people's wildest dreams, but in any case - having a famous boyfriend or girlfriend certainly doesn't guarantee a long and happy relationship! Complete this form to search for your perfect guy or girl!
