It's a woman's prerogative to be picky, which doesn't make things easy for guys in the dating game.

A new survey out this week outlines just how different women are and how their ideas about the dating game differ.

Some women are attracted to a guy with stubble, but a full-on beard is going too far, according to the survey of 12,000 women.

And while men's shoes are not a big deal for the ladies, many would be appalled if he rocked up to a date wearing sandals.

But one thing is clear ? ladies love a guy with a sense of humour.

Ross Brown, the editor of FHM, said: "Our research shows that nearly three quarters of women fancy a guy for his sense of humour rather than for his looks which will please a lot of guys out there.

"It just proves you don't have to be Brad Pitt to attract the attention of good looking women."
