When it comes to the celebrity that people would most like to date, there seems to be a significant variation among the different age groups.

If they had to pick to go on a perfect date with the perfect star, most younger girls would pick Johnny Depp or Robbie Williams, while of course the older women prefer silver-haired Sean Connery or the gorgeous Mel Gibson.

This is according to a survey conducted by Saga and the British Heart Foundation which asked the under-50s and the over-50s who they fancied most in the celebrity world.

Just one man came in the top three for both age groups ? heartthrob George Clooney, showing that age really ain't nothing but a number with lots of younger girls picking the former ER star to go on a date with.

When it came to the guys, the under-50s picked Kylie Minogue as their ideal date. The Spinning Around star just pipped Angelina Jolie to the post for the most-wanted celebrity date. Jennifer Aniston followed closely behind with actress Julia Roberts and domestic goddess Nigella Lawson making up the top five.

But the survey found that while people might fantasise about dating a celebrity, what they really want is the one they're with. The survey revealed that when questioned about who they would date, most wouldn't swap their current partner for anyone else.
