Are you sensible when it comes to the dating game, or would you throw caution to the wind if you thought you'd found The One?

Well, it seems that lots of Brits wouldn't waste a minute if they thought they had found the person they want to spend the rest of their life with.

A new survey by Alliance & Leicester reveals that 60 per cent of Britons believe in love at first sight, while a third would propose within the first six months of dating someone.

Like Preston and Chantelle of Celebrity Big Brother fame, some 13 per cent would pop the question within three months of dating.

"It is encouraging to see that many of us are still old romantics who believe in love at first sight," said Claire Alvey, personal loans manager at Alliance & Leicester.

A million Brits (two per cent) said they would propose after just meeting someone if they were convinced they had found Mr or Miss Right.
