You don't own me
Sometimes guys can get jealous when their girlfriends spend too much time with other people.
Whether that's with the girls, guy friends or colleagues, some guys' controlling nature is unleashed when they feel like they're not getting to spend enough time with the lady in their life.
One woman, a 25-year-old called Kelly, told Glamour magazine of her particularly controlling and jealous boyfriend Steve.
The couple have been dating for two years, but said that the problems started when they moved in together.
Kelly said: "Now Steve has begun to try and control me; change me even. I have lots of girlfriends I love spending time with and that never used to be a problem, but now Steve wants us to spend all our time together and is suspicious if I want to do other things."
She added: "In every other way, I feel we have a perfect relationship, but this is making me question our future together."
So what do you do when your relationship is ruined by your man's insecurity? According to a relationship expert, you've got to make him feel loved.
Leila Collins, a counselling psychologist at Middlesex University, told the magazine: "When you go out with someone, you take their friends and social life as part of the package.
"Steve probably doesn't realise it but he's being manipulating and controlling; you should never try to change people.
"Kelly must encourage Steve to spend time with his friends and they should develop a strong circle of mutual friends."
