What with Girl Power and the general 'sisters are doing it for themselves' mentality that exists in modern life, you'd think men might be intimidated by strong, independent females.

But a new survey has revealed that guys are actually turned on by a powerful woman and don't care whether she's more successful than him.

In a recent survey carried out by first direct, 88 per cent of guys said they wouldn't be put off dating a girl who earned more than them.

In fact, one in five British girls are earning more than their boyfriends or husbands.

But while these career girls are taking on more pressures in the workplace, they're not letting go of their household duties and are often doing far more than their other halves.

Richard Kimber, chief executive of first direct, said: "While women's salaries are slowly catching up with men's, most women are still doing more than their fair share of the chores around the home.

"Our research shows that over half of women are responsible for paying the bills and 44 per cent admit they still take on a disproportionate amount of housework compared to their partner."
