A poll has discovered the most romantic guys in the world. But sorry girls, they're taken.

Denmark's Crown Prince Frederik topped a survey conducted by Hello magazine of the most romantic displays of affection by a high-profile figure.

At his wedding reception, the prince told his wife: "The happiness and strength you give me is like the afternoon sun, its rays driving darkness and doubt deep into the ground."

He won 55 per cent of the vote with these touching words.

Next in line was actor Russell Crowe who told his wife Danielle: "Every now and then there's just a look in her face when she's talking to me and I want her to look at me like that all the time."

But who can forget Tom Cruise jumping on the sofa on Oprah Winfrey's chat show, declaring his love for girlfriend Katie Holmes?

The short star exclaimed: "I'm in love! I'm in love! I can't be cool. I can't be laid-back. I want to celebrate it. I want to celebrate her."
