All by myself, don't wanna be all by myself
Britain, it seems, is a country full of Bridget Jones's as the proportion of singletons here unhappy with their situation is higher than in any other European country, according to a recent survey.
Half of the UK's singletons said they were not happy being single, which compared unfavourably with the rest of Europe.
This 51 per cent was the highest proportion of unhappy singles in the UK, with just 21 per cent of Dutch and Swiss singletons being unhappy with their single status.
The Spanish were the most optimistic about their future love life with 87 per cent saying they did not doubt they would fine the One at some point.
However, a quarter of Brits were not so optimistic about their future, research by German research institute Innofact AG found.
Nevertheless, in Europe as a whole, 47 per cent said they looked forward to finding the love of their life in the future, with 42 per cent saying they would happily try online dating to give them a helping hand.
