Girls should also be careful, as many guys don't mind acting as if they're unattached and these are the most dangerous type.

"They're hooked on the hormones that hit when you meet someone you fancy," Val told Cosmo.

"Plus, your flirting back massages his ego, so he'll keep up the act as long as possible."

She said girls should listen to their "gut instinct" and get friends to chat to him first for a second opinion.
