The Lord of the Rings trilogy tops guys' list as favourite film, according to an online survey, so this should be a safe choice.

And it seems as if guys enjoy fantasy, as Frodo's adventures in Middle Earth are joined in the top ten by The Crow, The Matrix and Star Wars.

But they also like films based on real events, like Shawshank Redemption that took second spot, and Goodfellas which was voted in at fourth position.

Titanic also made the top ten, coming in at ninth position. It is possible that the film's popularity is based more on the big ship or Kate Winslet than on the soppy love story though.

Whatever your choice, don't suggest a chick flick like Gone with the Wind or Dirty Dancing. And whatever you do, don't flinch when you watch Pulp Fiction.
