So many people feel the need to make excuses for who they are and what they believe in, completely losing their own identity in the process.

Girls seem to be most prone to this when they fall in love with a guy. Trying to impress the guy she likes, a girl could easily slip into becoming a clone of him agreeing with everything he says and having the same opinions and interests as he does.

However, this sort of behaviour is most likely to bore the guy and make him lose interest.

Rachel Bilson, Summer in The OC, says being oneself in all circumstances is very important.

"I feel like you have to be who you are and be true to yourself first, always," the actress says. "You can't worry about how you're going to be perceived by other people."

Rachel's mum taught her a quote that she believes in: "It's none of my business what other people think of me."

This is good advice for all aspects of life in particular the romantic part.

Don't lose yourself when falling in love, but value your independence and treasure the things that are important to you.
