Messages are the core of communication on hookupdatefree.
You can send a message to potential dates who are both online and off line, knowing that they can come back and pick the message up at any time, just like an email.
To send a message to a potential date via hookupdatefree click on their photo or screenname. This will bring up the member’s full profile.
At the bottom of their profile you should see an empty white box titled ‘Contact this match’.
Simply type what you want to say in this box and click on the grey button labelled ‘Mail>>’
To read your mail from potential dates, click on ‘My Messages’ in the menu bar on top of the screen.
This will take you to your inbox where you can view a list of your messages, starting with the most recent.
To open and read the message, simply click on the match’s name or message date.
Alternatively if you’ve opted to have email alerts, we’ll send an email to your registered address every time you have a new message, simply click on the link in this email (or paste it into your browser's address bar) to go directly to the message.
If you don’t want to receive these alerts click on ‘My Profile’ and check the ‘No’ button next to �New Message emails�.
If you try to access your messages and your profile i.e. description or interests, come up instead it means that you haven�t completed your profile previously. Please fill in the boxes (or at least some of them) and you will be able to access your messages.
This is the ideal way to introduce yourself to more people!
Once a week members are presented with a Fast Flirt message so that they can make contact with as many matches as possible in one click. The Fast Flirt box will appear when you run a search.
Simply enter your message in the space provided. The message is sent to matches based on your default search criteria.
Once a member sends a Fast Flirt, the message goes into a queue for vetting by our moderation team. Upon approval the message is sent to matches. Please note that this may happen whilst you are offline and can take up to 24 hours to be processed. Fast Flirt messages cannot then be cancelled or deleted once sent.
If you don’t want to send a Fast Flirt simply ignore the panel.
This person may have deleted their profile or has been deleted from the site.
If someone deletes their profile all the messages they sent or that were sent to them are also deleted. This is done to ensure privacy for people who wish to leave the site.
Unfortunately it is not possible to delete or retrieve a message once it has been sent.
If you happen to delete a message by accident please go to ‘deleted items’ next and you will find it here.
Simply click on My Profile, scroll down to the section called Opt-ins and check No next to the New Message emails option.
Underneath the reply box you will find a link “Report the contents of this message as offensive”
Unless it’s really obvious why the message is offensive, you might also want to explain a little why you thought so.
If you really object to someone on the site and decide you never want to hear from them again, you can block them from sending you any further messages using our block facility.
Please click on the ‘Block this person from seeing my profile’ link at the bottom of their profile.
